Frequently Asked Questions

What is Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that consists of comedones, papules, pustules and cysts. Acne most commonly develops on areas of the body that contain a lot of sebaceous (oil) glands, including the face, neck, chest, back and shoulders. Acne usually begins (and is most common) in puberty, but many adults also develop the condition. Treating acne is a multi-dimensional task. Exfoliation must be enhanced to remove cell build up, sebum production (oil) must be controlled and acne and inflammation must be reduced. For acne clients, Eco Skin Body will provide a guide book for eating and living, and combined with Alumier MD skincare products, you will achieve your clear skin goals.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition characterized by facial flushing, redness, telangiectasias (visible vessels), and pustules ( small red bumps or pimple-like lesions). Rosacea is most often seen in fair-skinned people over the age of 30, and typically affects the cheeks, nose forehead and chin.

Recommended products for redness

Our Sensitive Skincare Collection helps you improve the look of redness and sensitive skin using naturally powerful ingredients. Alumier MD's hero ingredients when treating Rosacea are Hinokitiol, Sea Whip, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3). Together they have anti-inflammatory, antioxidants and antimicrobial properties which strengthen skin cells and capillaries as well as relieve redness and inflammation. This advanced regime reduces redness and irritation, boosts hydration, and protects your skin from environmental triggers, leaving you with a calmer and clearer complexion.

What is Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation occurs when excess and uneven melanin causes a darkened appearance to the skin in either small or large areas, resulting in dark spots, dark patches or an uneven skin tone.

Recommended products for hyperpigmentation:

Our Pigment Solutions Skincare Collection helps you improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation for a brighter and more even-toned complexion. Whether you are aiming to correct photo-damaged, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hormone related melasma, the melanocytes need to be suppressed. This advanced regime reduces the brown spots and discolouration by exfoliating existing pigment. Exfoliation will remove pigmented skin cells and accelerate results giving you brightened skin, and protect against future damage caused by UV rays.

How is AlumierMD different from other skin lines?

AlumierMD doesn't just "dust" their products with expensive ingredients to make marketing claims. They researched the optimal ingredients and concentrations to create prescription-strength formulations optimized for your skin profile. Their products undergo independent clinical testing to ensure safety and efficacy.

What is the difference between Alumier MD products and products sold at drugstores?

The products at a department store or drugstore are often diluted and manufactured for general concerns. Alumier MD products combine a variety of medical-grade ingredients, including AHA's, BHA's, retinol, antioxidants, plant extracts, vitamins and peptides, as well as innovative new components. The concentrations of these ingredients are generally much higher than in drugstore brands, and work synergistically to improve skin conditions, including Acne, Rosacea, Dry skin, Hyperpigmentation and Ageing skin.

What skin types benefit from Alumier MD skincare products?

Alumier MD products are specifically formulated for different skin types and conditions, including dry, oily, sensitive, ageing and acne - prone skin. We recommend asking your skincare professional at Eco Skin Body which products and regime would best address your individual concerns.

Can Alumier MD products be used on skin of all ethnicities?

Alumier MD products may be used on skin of any ethnicity for the appropriate skin concerns, including visible signs of ageing, sensitive skin, acne rosacea and hyperpigmentation.

What are peptides?

Peptides are chains of amino acids that occur naturally in the body, or are synthesized in the laboratory. Different types of peptides are used in skincare because they have different functions. For example, there are anti-redness and antimicrobial peptides, as well as peptides that reduce the visible signs of ageing and hyperpigmentation.

What are alpha hydroxy acids?

Alpha hydroxy acids (known as AHAs) exfoliate dead skin cells and increase cell turnover by loosening the connections between skin cells. They firm and strengthen ageing skin, which improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Skin feels smoother and looks more radiant after AHA use. Lactic acid ( derived from milk products and will not cause allergic reaction to lactose intolerant individuals)  and glycolic acid (derived from sugar cane) are two examples of AHA's.

What is retinol?

Retinol is a vitamin A derivative and antioxidant that increases cell turnover and strengthens skin, which improves tone and texture. Retinol minimizes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. There are more than 700 published studies on anti-ageing and retinol. Retinol is a game changing, ageing-skin corrector and should be in everyone's home skincare routine. Alumier MD has a luxurious formula that will encourage daily compliance.

Why does Alumier MD use microencapsulated retinol?

Microencapsulated retinol allows for a slow release into the skin over hours instead of minutes, which minimizes side effects like irritation and redness, this means you can enjoy all the benefits with minimal irritation.

How would I start using retinol safely and effectively?

Mild redness, peeling and irritation may occur when using retinol products. We always recommend conditioning the skin by starting with a low-percentage retinol product like the Retinol Resurfacing Serum 0.25 or 0.5. You can start using it one or two nights per week. Retinol Resurfacing Serum 1.0 is the goal retinol strength to eventually use. The microencapsulated retinol found in all of the Alumier MD's Retinol Resurfacing Serums allows for a slow release into the skin, minimizing irritation and maximizing effectiveness. Do not use retinol if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Use Alumier MD sunscreen during the day and limit sun exposure while using retinol products, and for a week following discontinuation.
